Current Name: Cara Stimson
E-mail: scgmakes3@comcast.net
Status: Married to Steve almost 11 years
Kids: Garrett Miles is 5 1/2, Connor Blake was born September 2003
Where I'm Living: Bolingbrook, Illinois (a western suburb of Chicago)
How I Spend My Days: Trying out being a 21st century "June Cleaver" (without the pearls). Taking care of my sons at home is really the best. I guess I didn't really want to be a businesswoman extraordinaire - the next Alexis Carrington (Dynasty, remember?)
Hobbies and Interests: I LOVE to travel and luckily the rest of my family does too. Garrett frequently asks when we can stay in a hotel again. I've also started a scrapbooking business at home to take advantage of my addiction to making albums for my own family.
Last 20 Years in a Nutshell: Moved to Texas for college, married Steve, moved to New York for him to graduate in Baking from The Culinary Institute of America, then here to the Chicago area for him to be Executive Pastry Chef at The Four Seasons Hotel on Michigan Avenue. He left the hotel business just after Garrett's birth and is now a computer engineer. Most of this time (for 16 years) I was at JCPenney. I left there in 2000 (don't ya hate retail?) and landed at Garrett's daycare. I changed daycares three times before finding a beautiful (meaning really expensive) one actually fit to care for children. I stayed there until just before Connor's birth last fall. I've been home since and only regret I haven't been a domestic goddess (stay-home mom) the whole time.
High School Memories: I seem to have blocked much of it out but... I'll
always remember the time the PomPom squad did their splits one by one into
the mud at Denfeld's football field and how cold those games could be, the
"Z" squad doing their Thriller routine, school closing for snow three
Fridays in a row January of Junior(?) year (postponing the Queen of
Athletics shindig each time), piling in one of the Roby Volvos (how many
were there anyway?) for Little Mob excursions, Joan Anderson's interesting
vehicles, sneaking ice cream cones and Diet Cokes into choir with Kelly
Carlson, all us girls having a thing for Mr. Axt (you know you did!), Ms.
Bensen's crooked pinkies, Mr. Armstrong with the perpetual chalk on the back
of his brown sweater vest and who could forget the strike causing us to
graduate so late in the year..... Wow, I guess I haven't blocked all of it
out, huh?
